The weather wasn’t the only thing balmy about this month’s new staff retreat! (Record high temps and beautiful skies were so enticing that some of the sessions were held outdoors.) What else was balmy? The pleasant company!
Fourteen “newbies” spent two days with six “sages” from 4 southwestern states, all for the purpose of learning what they had never learned but needed to know about the foundation world. From new grant officers to communications managers to administrative directors, this group was spirited, inquisitive, talented and very eager to create connections in their new field. By the end of the two days, the “newbies” got the fever and in some instances, roles were reversed. A reunion of the class has been scheduled for April in Austin.
Philanthropy Southwest’s New Staff Retreat is a biennial event. Hosted at the Samuel Roberts Noble Conference Center in Admore, Oklahoma for the last several years, Philanthropy Southwest is grateful for the opportunity to offer this program in a beautiful setting away from the madness of our big cities!
