Economic Impact of Philanthropy

Economic Impact of Philanthropy

Publication date:
February, 2025

Philanthropy Southwest and capstone students from Texas A&M Bush School for Non-Profit management partnered to produce a comprehensive economic impact analysis of foundation giving across seven southwestern states: Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, and Texas. Through careful examination of IRS information returns (Form 990/Form 990-PF), the research extracts detailed grant data, including information about granting organizations and monetary values, along with grant impact data related to recipient organization expenditures. The analysis reveals the direct, indirect, and induced economic effects of foundation grants throughout the region. Beyond measuring broad regional economic impacts, the study offers in-depth insights into both grantmaking institutions and recipient organizations operating within the southwestern United States.
