Texas Child Welfare Funders Sponsors TexProtects Legislative Update Tour
Philanthropy Southwest's affinity group, Texas Child Welfare Funders, is sponsoring seven virtual educational events for funders this fall that will cover child welfare legislative updates and the dire shortage of foster beds in Texas right now. TexProtects will cover both topics and more in its Texas Tour, which will address issues regionally. All times are CST.
- Houston - September 29, 2021 from 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm
- TexProtects and DePelchin are partnering to host a community discussion on results of the recent legislative session. We look forward to your participation in breakout discussions on how we can best utilize resources both before and after families experience a crisis. Some of the topics we plan to cover include: smart strategies to prevent child abuse and neglect; what can be done to address the state’s foster care capacity crisis; what the path forward for Community-Based Care could look like in this region; how we can better support youth aging out of care; and how we can make sure we are ensuring success for children and families.
Who is DePelchin and why we partnered with them: TexProtects is honored to partner with DePelchin, as they provide services to children and families all along the prevention spectrum. They integrate prevention, foster care, and adoption programs to improve the well-being and safety of children who are at risk of removal or are already in the state’s custody.
