Aparna Rajagopal-Durbin, Ava Holliday and José González of the Avarna Group will lead this session that explores conservation history and how it fits into the larger context of social history and how, sometimes despite the best of intentions, conservation organizations have harmed Black, Indigenous and other communities. The session will also highlight examples of how White-led conservation organizations can change the arc of this history and engage in justice work in solidarity with those who have historically been most negatively impacted.
