KIRKPATRICK FAMILY FUND APPOINTS NEW TRUSTEE
Kirkpatrick Family Fund Welcomes Rev. Robin R. Meyers, PhD to Board of Trustees
OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA, JULY 27, 2020 – The Kirkpatrick Family Fund is pleased to announce the appointment of Rev. Robin R. Meyers, PhD as its newest addition to the Board of Trustees.
“I am honored Dr. Robin Meyers has agreed to serve on the Board of Trustees and certain he will make significant contributions to the charitable efforts of the Kirkpatrick Family Fund,” said Christian Keesee, President of the Board of Trustees. “His experience will be invaluable to the Kirkpatrick Family Fund and its commitment to addressing quality of life issues.”
Dr. Meyers is a Retired Senior Minister of Mayflower Congregational United Church of Christ of Oklahoma City, and Distinguished Professor of Social Justice Emeritus in the Philosophy Department at Oklahoma City University. He is the author of eight books about religion and culture.
“Dr. Meyers is familiar with our program initiatives in Oklahoma and Colorado,” said Elizabeth Eickman, Director of the Kirkpatrick Family Fund, “This knowledge coupled with his personal and professional perspective will be a tremendous benefit to the work of the Family Fund.”
A fellow and former board member of the Westar Institute, a newspaper columnist and commentator for NPR, Dr. Meyers lectures nationally and internationally on the merits of Progressive Christianity, gave the Lyman Beecher Lectures at Yale, and is the subject of a feature-length documentary about the unlikely success of his progressive ministry in perhaps American’s most conservative state: American Heretics: The Politics of the Gospel (www.americanhereticsthefilm.com). He is married to Shawn Meyers, an artist and professor, and they are the parents of three children, and grandparents to three remarkable granddaughters.
