Philanthropy Southwest is pleased to co-present this upcoming webinar with CNM (formerly Center for Nonprofit Management). Description: Foundations expect nonprofits to achieve outcomes in order to receive funding. Nonprofits want to show their programs are working but need program evaluation expertise to demonstrate their community impact. They also need foundations to understand outcomes to make sure everyone is aligned in how they are thinking about community impact. This webinar will focus on the value of program evaluation so foundations are better able to assess funding requests and partner more effectively with nonprofits for greater results. Specifically, this webinar will cover what program evaluation is and two key evaluation methods for nonprofits, namely Process and Outcomes evaluation. Process evaluation helps to determine if a program is designed appropriately, implemented as intended, and reaching the right people. Outcomes evaluation determines whether a program is leading to desired changes in the lives of program participants. In this webinar we will discuss the differences between the types of data collected for Process and Outcomes evaluation, how the type methods can be used in tandem, and what foundations can do to support nonprofit evaluation work. This 1-hour webinar will include presentation time as well as time for audience Q&A. Presentation materials will be made available after the session.
Learning Objectives: • Identify the difference between outputs and outcomes • Explain how process and outcome evaluation can be used together • Understand how foundations can support nonprofit evaluation capacity building Presenter: Nora E. Douglas, Ph.D. Director, Outcomes and Evaluation, CNM
