Reclaiming Native Truth: Uprooting Myths & Changing the Narrative About Native Americans
Wednesday, November 14, 2018
1:00 pm - 2:00 pm Central Time / 12:00 noon - 1:00 pm Mountain Time
Native Americans live, thrive and lead all across the United States, in all walks of life. They work, vote, volunteer, pay taxes, and contribute to their tribes and communities across the country. But Native Americans are largely invisible to the rest of the country — and their voices are rarely heard in the news, in popular culture or in history books. What little is reflected about Native issues and cultures is riddled with misinformation and confusion. A group of diverse Native and non-Native stakeholders from across the country are working to change this situation as part of an initiative called Reclaiming Native Truth, a national effort to foster cultural, social and policy change by empowering Native Americans to counter discrimination, invisibility and the dominant narratives that limit Native opportunity.
This funder-only webinar will provide an overview of the key findings from the project, steps to restore power and voice of the native community, and philanthropy’s role in building, lasting solutions. To learn more and to register, click here.
