Build Skills, Better Jobs
Presented by The Philanthropy Roundtable, this donor event will address strategies to support and help at-risk individuals achieve skills to help them succeed in the changing labor market.
Advances in automation and artificial intelligence are changing the nature of work. Robots are eliminating jobs, while at the same time entirely new, previously unimagined jobs are created. This churn affects how we work and how we prepare people for work. Join The Philanthropy Roundtable to explore the dynamic jobs story as presenters offer a day of “TED-like” talks, sharing regional solutions to this national issue. We’ll examine lessons from Dallas, a city that ranks among the best performing cities for job creation and sustainability. We’ll discuss skills training, industry partnerships, poverty and economic mobility, K-12 and higher education innovation, and “good jobs” ecosystems. Presenters will describe current and future challenges, as well as strategies that donors can support to help workers, employers, and economies thrive, grow, and prosper.
