COUSTEAU TO KEYNOTE PHILANTHROPY SOUTHWEST CONFERENCE IN ARIZONA 
Foundation Leaders to Discuss Critical Societal Change Issues

WHO: Keynote speaker Philippe Cousteau will kick-off the annual conference of Philanthropy Southwest, the oldest membership organization for foundations in the U.S. Cousteau, who is the grandson of Jacques Cousteau and son of Philippe Cousteau, Sr., continues the family tradition of exploration and advocating for environmental sustainability. Cousteau also leverages the power of adventure to reignite STEM education through EarthEcho International, a leading nonprofit environmental education organization, and serves as host and executive producer of Awesome Planet, a new syndicated series that airs weekly on Fox. The conference will also feature an array of experts and innovators, together with several hundred foundation leaders from across the southwestern U.S. (see a listing of all speakers).

WHAT: Philanthropy Southwest's Annual Conference draws some 300 foundation leaders. Foundations in a seven-state area - Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas - are members of the 66-year-old association. Presenters and participants will address timely, critical societal needs, with funders exploring how they can help to bring about change. Session topics include: • Environment: Environmental and economic consequences of critical water issues facing the southwestern United States • Children & Youth: Child abuse and resiliency; aging out of foster care; reducing teen pregnancy; vulnerabilities of children in American Indian and Alaska Native populations • Immigration: The economic impact of immigration • Health Care: Mental health care disparities; veterans' health • Philanthropy: The economic impact of foundation giving in the southwestern U.S. (See all session descriptions.)

WHERE: All sessions will take place at the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Resort, 5594 West Wild Horse Pass Blvd., Chandler, Arizona (just outside of Phoenix).
