Texas Child Welfare Funders Sponsors TexProtects Legislative Update Tour
Philanthropy Southwest's affinity group, Texas Child Welfare Funders, is sponsoring seven virtual educational events for funders this fall that will cover child welfare legislative updates and the dire shortage of foster beds in Texas right now. TexProtects will cover both topics and more in its Texas Tour, which will address issues regionally. All times are CST.
- Panhandle - October 13, 2021 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
- TexProtects and St. Francis Ministries have partnered together to review what happened to child protection this past legislative session and to hear from various stakeholders in your community about the work that still needs to be done during the interim to ensure Texas families are supported and children are safe. We look forward to your participation as we have breakout discussions on how we can best utilize our resources before and after families experience a crisis. Some of the topics we plan to cover include: smart strategies to prevent child abuse and neglect; what can be done to address the state’s foster care capacity crisis; the continued roll-out of Community-Based Care in the region; and how we can truly transform this system to serve children and families better.
Who are St. Francis Ministries and why we partnered with them: TexProtects is honored to partner with St. Francis Ministries, as they are the Single Source Continuum Contractor for Community-Based Care in Region 1. They work all along the prevention spectrum to serve children and families, and they believe strong families make children’s lives better.
