Texas Child Welfare Funders Sponsors TexProtects Legislative Update Tour
Philanthropy Southwest's affinity group, Texas Child Welfare Funders, is sponsoring seven virtual educational events for funders this fall that will cover child welfare legislative updates and the dire shortage of foster beds in Texas right now. TexProtects will cover both topics and more in its Texas Tour, which will address issues regionally. All times are CST.
- Comal County - October 28, 2021 from 10:00 am – 11:30 am
- TexProtects and SJRC Texas have partnered together to review what happened as it relates to child protection this past legislative session and to hear from various stakeholders in your community about the work that still needs to be done during the interim to ensure Texas families are supported and children are safe. We look forward to your participation as you hear from an expert panel and open up for audience discussion on how we can best utilize our resources both before and after families experience a crisis. Some of the topics we plan to cover include: smart strategies to prevent child abuse and neglect; how to better support families; what can be done to address the state’s foster care capacity crisis; the roll-out of Community-Based Care in the region; and how we can transform the system with data.
Who is SJRC Texas and why we partnered with them: TexProtects is honored to partner with SJRC, as their new division Belong will serve as the lead provider for Community-Based Care in Region 8b. They believe serving children and families through prevention helps build not only healthy families but also healthy communities.
